Definition of Healthy Church
LBA has a working definition of what a healthy church is so we can best serve our churches and leaders. It’s not perfect or even necessarily complete. However, it is a very good representation of our Biblical understanding of what a healthy church should look like.
A healthy church is a body of [baptized] followers of Christ that has an obedience-based disciple making process to fulfill the Great Commission in its context by being biblically based, balanced in function, mission focused, servant led and characterized by excellence in all that is does to bring glory and honor to the Father that results in new converts, new groups and new congregations.
· Characteristics of a healthy church are
-
Disciples growing in obedience-based spiritual maturity
-
Corporate and private worship that glorifies God
-
People are reached for Christ regularly with the Gospel. Baptisms are seen on a regular basis.
-
Life-changing ministries throughout the church, the community and beyond
-
A united and joyous fellowship of believers
-
Deeply committed and burdened for intercessory prayer
